Sir, Police Officer Pui-Tak's anger and disappointment come through quite clearly (July 17th), but what is also plain is the pride he feels for his own language and the important place it holds as the central element of his distinctive identity. We Irish might take note of such passion for a language. All the good will in the world will not revive the use of Irish in everyday life. We need to do what Pui-Tak did and spend just six months getting to grips with the basics of the language and take it from there into our lives. - Tours, etc., DUNCAN KEEGAN,Caherleaheen,Co Kerry.
