Sir, – Frank McNally gave a full correction (An Irishman’s Diary, July 7th) on the religious backgrounds of Erwin Schrödinger’s parents and a most interesting account of Ludwig Wittgenstein. It is particularly apt this summer that he mentions the great philosopher was in the habit of retreating to cold and desolate parts of Europe, where he could think more clearly.
I have passed these words of good advice to my sister in Vienna, my son in Prague and to other members of the family living in the hot spots of Europe.
