Madam, - Barry Kenny, media and public relations manager of Iarnród Éireann (August 30th)makes a case for spending €1.3 billion on building an "interconnector" tunnel from Docklands to Heuston station.
Is Mr Kenny aware that such a link is already in existence via a bridge over the Liffey close to Heuston station and a tunnel under the Phoenix Park (below the Wellington Monument) connecting to Liffey Junction near Cabra and thence by lines at two levels either to Connolly station or to the Docklands area?
For some time I have tried in vain to obtain an explanation from Iarnród Éireann, and more recently from the Minister for Transport, why this link cannot be used or developed. - Yours, etc,
KENNETH R. WILSON, Mount Merrion, Co Dublin.
