Sir, - Allow me to say to Dr Philip McGarry that many Catholic schools, like my own, take part in EMU activities, sports of all kinds that are mixed such as rugby, soccer, basketball, athletics and swimming, debates, quizzes, weekend discussions, sixth form residential conferences etc. I can assure him there is no drawback to mixing on the Catholic side in the North.
Parents like the Catholic ethos, and the sure and certain teaching of the faith along with prayer and devotion. Our duties to ecumenism are fully appreciated, and carried out with enthusiasm. Please blame somebody else or something else for the dreadful sectarianism of Northern Ireland. - Yours, etc,
