Madam, – Rainwater falls on my house, my garden and all around it. This rainwater flows through many kilometres of surface water systems to eventually arrive at a treatment plant where once successfully treated and turned into potable (drinkable) water is pumped many kilometres back to my house (losing some 15 to 60 per cent en route). Upon arriving at my house, approximately 10 per cent of the water is used for drinking purposes. The remaining 90 per cent is dumped into a storage tank in my attic, immediately becoming undrinkable.
One couldn’t design a more inefficient system and now we are to be charged for it. I have no issue with paying for resources I use, however, there must be a better system of local or even domestic rainwater collection which would make the entire process cheaper and more self-sustaining? – Yours, etc,
