Madam, - What is depressing about the Rev John Achebe's case, apart from the terrible treatment meted out to him, is that many hundreds of others receive similar or worse treatment at the hands of immigration officials every year, but don't have the ear of their ambassador to bring their cases to light.
When our immigration services start treating with dignity those attempting to enter the country, we'll be in a better position to lecture the US about its immigration policies. - Yours, etc,
KEITH MARTIN, The Maltings, Island Street, Dublin 8.
