Madam, - Further to recent, separate correspondence on Kimpton Vale's derisory fine for destroying the Presentation Convent in Terenure and the lack of a permanent home for Poetry Ireland, here's a thought: let the punishment fit the crime. Give the transgressing developer planning permission to build a home for Poetry Ireland,to be let rent-free for 90 years, after which time the property could revert to An Taisce, or some such body, to safeguard for future generations.
There would be some poetic justice in preserving and developing our literary heritage on a site where such wanton destruction took place. - Yours, etc,
CAROL CAFFREY, Shrewsbury, Shropshire, England.
