Madam - John Bruton is dead right: "I have concluded that the IFPA are not the right people to be preparing tax-funded leaflets on sexual relations for distribution to 12 to 16-year-olds". The Irish Family Planning Association is affiliated to International Planned Parenthood, abortion providers, and the recipient of vast sums of money from Bill Gates, Ted Turner, the US Government, etc..
In the first instance, why is our money being used without our consent to fund this body? Secondly, what qualifications does the IFPA have for instructing our young people in sexual matters - apart from its vested interest in the provision of contraceptives?
Surely, there is no lack of evidence of the massive increase in sexually transmitted diseases, some of which, at least, are inflicted through skin contact, in tandem with the ever-increasing provision of condoms.
Is there not a contradiction here? As is happening in Britian, where there is no shortage of contraceptives, STDs continue to escalate.
The decision of the North Eastern Health Board to fund sexually explicit booklets with statements such as "your body is yours to share it with whoever you choose" is certain to contribute to promiscuousness and the further spread of STDs.
Such irresponsibility is totally unacceptable and I object strenuously to contributing to this project. - Yours, etc,
Mrs. MARY STEWART, Ardeskin, Donegal Town.
