Madam, - I applaud Setanta Ireland for its recent programme on the life and career of Christy O'Connor Snr, who surely deserves national recognition for his many golfing achievements over the decades and who remains a cherished jewel in this country's crown.
I was disappointed, however, that the programme lacked footage of many of the glorious moments which Christy brought to our screens with his exploits around the world of golf. He provided the Irish - North and South - with many causes for national pride and self-esteem at a time when the country had little to crow about on the world stage.
RTÉ must have a store of video material showing Christy's greatest achievements. Given the many hours of fascinating broadcasting which he had provided for the station, why did RTÉ, as the highly subsidised national public service broadcaster, not undertake this project itself? - Yours, etc,
