Sir, - Unlike Wynzen de Vries (April 16th), I welcome the clear and courageous restatement of the traditional biblical teaching on the subject of homosexual practice by Rev Gordon Fyles (Opinion, April 9th).Why is Wynzen de Vries "disturbed and dismayed to find a Church of Ireland clergyman" advocating such views? Is he, as an Anglican, unaware that at the forthcoming Lambeth Conference such views are likely to be forcefully supported by large numbers of bishops? The Dallas Statement of September last stated: "It is not acceptable for a pro-gay agenda to be smuggled into the Church's programme, or foisted upon our people, and we will not permit it." This was issued by four archbishops and 45 bishops. - Yours, etc., Kenneth S.
