Helping the people of Japan

Madam, – I wish to note my deepest sympathies to the people of Japan

Madam, – I wish to note my deepest sympathies to the people of Japan. I believe we cannot do too much to provide aid in their crisis. In conjunction with traditional aid, which should be as generous as we can provide, we may have other opportunities to offer.

Although ours is an insignificant crisis by comparison, it may be we could help Japan to move forward. We are an island country on the edge of European markets and with proximity to Canadian, US and Brazilian markets also.

Great areas of Japan need to be evacuated and we are a country full of empty buildings and with an educated workforce. Many industries in Japan may need a home and as a small country we may be able to provide instant space and some workforce as well as housing.

Co-operation may help both Ireland and Japan. In particular we may benefit from the influence of such a refined and gentle people. We have a unique situation, with infrastructure, office and manufacturing facilities sitting idle. I believe we should be presenting an immediate and caring support to Japan which may benefit both our countries and strengthen ties with this great and troubled land. – Yours, etc,

Madam, – How about we take in 250,000 homeless people from Japan and they in turn lend us some Yen at their domestic interest rate of 0.5%?  Seems like two birds with one stone to me, but actually it could be three if enough Japanese stayed, being the industrious,  hard-working people that they are.  – Yours, etc,
