Sir, - With reference to your report from the Conference on Feminism, Politics and Community (May 20th) I would just like to point out that the health clinic run for prostitutes by the Eastern Health Board has not been closed down.
The Eastern Health Board has been running a clinic for prostitutes in Baggot Street Hospital in Dublin since 1991. This clinic targets women engaged in prostitution and provides a health service specific to their needs. The services available include advice, counselling, liaison, referral, education, support, sexual health advice, cervical smears, HIV testing and family planning advice.
The services are provided through a combination of outreach and drop in clinics. - Yours, etc.,
Communications Director,
Eastern Health Board,
Dr Steevens' Hospital,
Dublin 8.
