Sir, - As one who attended the healing service for the abused at St Andrew's Church in Dublin last Monday evening, may I offer my deep gratitude to the two women in particular whose initiative and determination led to the event. Whilst I found it regrettable that no-one from the Church felt it necessary to apologise and seek forgiveness for the abuse originating from within its own institutions, I still feel that the service was indeed a step along the path of healing. My overall impression was that, like myself, many others found the evening very uplifting and I would urge other dioceses around the country to consider offering a similar service. - Yours, etc., Michael Lydon,
Sandymount, Dublin 4.
