Sir, - I agree fully with Patrick Mulloy's recommendation (October 5th) that we should follow Scandinavian legislation requiring cars to have their lights on when driving.
General Motors introduced this feature in 1995 in the US referring to them as "daytime running lamps . . . These special low density headlights help alert other drivers . . . and research shows they reduce collisions and that can help save lives." - Yours. etc..
