Madam, – In an effort to minimise the spread of the H1N1 virus, Frank McNally (An Irishman’s Diary, July 23rd) makes the eminently sensible suggestion that Mass-goers should eschew the sign-of-peace handshake in favour of the more hygienic “fist-bump” (made famous by Barack and Michelle Obama). But what might we call the Irish version of this essentially American custom? The “flu jab”? – Yours, etc,
