Madam, – David Reddy (Letters, October 26th) lays the blame for Halloween’s antisocial ambience at the feet of those irresponsible cads down at the Department of Education who so callously schedule mid-term break the week before.
This seems to be another great example of blame shifting, where a more pertinent question might be asked of the parents who lend their considerable engineering and/or pyrotechnic prowess to the construction of said pyres, but are then mysteriously unavailable to supervise once the sun goes down and the pubs open.
Or could this just be yet more misplaced anger at the public service? – Yours, etc,
