Madam, - It is even more unrealistic for the Minister for Enterprise, Mr Martin, to assume that highly qualified scientists are all men than it is to tell them that they cannot bring their "wife or kids" to this country (The Irish Times, February 21st). I am an unmarried mother of one, with a science degree and a long-suffering partner who came to Ireland with me. Despite the narrow view of the Minister, we both welcome the new sense of maturity in the Irish immigration system. - Yours, etc.,
EVE MERTON, Glasnevin, Dublin 9.
