Sir, I was very glad to see that at last Speranza is to be honoured in the city which she graced for so long. I am even more pleased to note that the engraver of her memorial plaque is a better speller than whoever did her husband's for on that, the first "h" of "ophthalmic" has been omitted so that he is described as the founder of St Mark's Opthalmic Hospital.
