Madam, - As a means of trying to meet our commitments on the Kyoto Agreement I suggest that the unnecessary use of electricity be curtailed by banning the following:
Neon advertisements; floodlighting of public buildings; outdoor ornamental lighting.
We could also look at the extravagant use of fuel for individual recreation by jet-skis, quads, etc.
These measures would be easily enforced and would make a difference to our greenhouse gas emissions. As in the case of the smoking ban, Ireland might set an example for the rest of the world which would be useful. - Yours, etc.,
