Madam, – As many of your readers will know, Sandymount Strand has long been an important resting and feeding place for migrating birds. One of the great pleasures of living in this area is watching them arrive and settle before resuming their long journeys.
Lately, however, a literally disturbing factor has been added to the scene in the form of dogs whose devoted owners seem to think it is all right for their pets to harass and chase the resting flocks.
Please could these owners, few in number, cease to allow their dogs to indulge in this practice? The dogs may know no better but their owners certainly should.
