Sir, - The outflow of sympathy and generosity of the Irish people never fails to amaze me. During the past 18 months my friends and I have stood in Grafton Street and shopping centres in the Dublin area with collection buckets and to date have collected £50,000 on behalf of GOAL for famine relief in Central Africa.
Through your newspaper I would very much like to thank all those tens of thousands of kind and generous people most sincerely. I must also not forget the management and staff of the shopping centres for allowing us to collect for these deserving and unfortunate people who really have nothing. Your co-operation and kindness is greatly appreciated.
During the past number of months, our efforts have been centred around Southern Sudan and unfortunately, are likely to be for many more.
