Madam, – Having watched the coverage of Diarmuid Gavin’s magnificent gold-medal winning garden on BBC over the course of seven days, I think €2.3 million was well in line with what a media campaign would cost Fáilte Ireland. The garden is supposed to be permanently moved to Cork. If they no longer want it nor value the amenity and attraction of such a garden to Irish and overseas tourists, I wonder if Dún Laoghaire Rathdown Council might take it off their hands?
This would allow us to experience the beauty and joy to be found among his inspirational planting, which has to be seen to be believed. I’d be happy to point out a few locations that would be perfect for it around the borough. – Yours, etc,
