Madam, – While I am by no means a fan of Tyrone football, even for me the inequity of the current GAA disciplinary system is clear in the suspension handed down to Ryan McMenamin. During his six-week suspension he will miss four games, whereas in a four-week suspension he would miss only one. Surely it is time for the GAA to adopt a game-based approach to suspensions policy to avoid such anomalies?

To avoid shenanigans such as rearranging games to ensure a star county player was available, the disciplinary committee could hand down a suspension covering a certain number of club games and a certain number of county games. Or is this too much game theory? – Yours, etc,
