Sir, - Your excellent and interesting editorial "Unity on the Left" (May 28th ) was marred by that plague of our times, but not, I had hoped, our Irish Times. This is the errant apostrophe, to be found in your sentence starting "It's strategy for growth . . .".
I hope, sir you will deal with the culprits, be they sub-editors or proof readers. We like to regard your editorials and their presentation as examples of best English usage; please try to keep them that way. - Yours, etc., David A Bowles
Dalkey, Co Dublin.
