Sir, - I refer to the letter (October 8th) from Mr Adrian Lynch explaining the first five minutes of madness as "foolish yet understandable" to rid tensions, nervousness and the "fire in the belly".
Could I suggest that in future the GAA allocate a five minute free for all before the television coverage of its games to dissipate the aggression, tension, etc? At least the viewers would be spared the unsavoury spectacle of players releasing these stoked up emotions which Mr Lynch so vividly describes. Yours, etc.,
Bearna,
Co Galway.
