Madam, - Once again we hear about the high levels of crime in four districts of Dublin - from a series of Dáil questions posed by Fine Gael. Yet again, the focus is on communities who have accepted that they have many difficulties and are doing their best to respond to these.
When will Fine Gael name the four communities with the highest levels of "white collar crime"? Must it be left to the papers to identify wealthy middle class tax evaders, who for the most part never go to prison? Will Fine Gael politicians highlight the lack of convictions for "insider trading"? Or will they find it easier to focus on the role of the Garda in deprived communities rather than the lack of resources being committed to law and policing when it comes to white-collar crime?
- Yours, etc,
MICHAEL DALY, Willow Park Avenue, Dublin 11.
