Sir, – Micheál Martin has apologised to the Irish nation, on behalf of Fianna Fáil, for the mistakes that they made during the Ahern/Cowen administrations. Mr Martin was a Cabinet Minister throughout these administrations and knows exactly what happened during this period. When he furnishes the Irish nation with precise details of the interaction between politics, banking and builder/developers, I will then consider whether or not to take his apology seriously. – Yours, etc,

A silent response to the announcement of his presence would have given more authenticity to Micheál Martin’s apology for Fianna Fáil’s economic devastation of the country and more clearly defined its understanding of the need to change as a political party. – Yours, etc,
