A chara, - I am in full agreement with whoever coined the paradox that Saturday's Irish Times is our best Sunday newspaper, and Foinse complements my Sabbath reading delightfully.

I had the same difficulty as Liam O Muirthile in getting Foinse regularly, but solved the problem by giving my local newsagent, a weekly order for it, having explained to him that the wholesale distributors are Newspread Ltd who deliver daily. I get La every Thursday on the same basis. It is also delivered unfailingly by Newspread, and provides me with a healthy and challenging antidote to the depressing speculative banalities which abound in the only daily papers available to me.

Unhappily, my newsagent cannot get me The Irish Times every day, due to some silly rule about a minimum order, and, due to age and infirmity, I, can only manage to travel the distance needed to get it on the essential days, Wednesday and Saturday.

Many readers of Irish have difficulty in obtaining books in that language, which are seldom displayed in bookshops, but most booksellers will gladly order them, if one explains that the wholesalers are usually AIS, of 13 Fenian Street, Dublin 2 - telephone (01) 6616522 a most helpful and efficient, if self effacing, distributing organisation. It is a pity that they are not given the rem it and the resources to mount a visible and aggressive marketing programme. - Is mise agus rl.,
