Sir, - On a recent television news item, I watched the Brussels police efficiently clear their streets of riotous farmers intent on disrupting the commercial life of the city.
Our own police should be likewise prepared the next time the farming community attempt to bite the hand that feeds them on the streets of Dublin, having already required for us the wretched title of the begging-bowl of Europe. It is time now to lance the abcess of permanent financial subsidies to an ungrateful, sad community that looks upon them as a right to be vampired from the bleeding taxpayers. - Yours, etc., Michael Mac Coisdealbh,
Upper Kilmacud Road, Goatstown, Dublin 14.
