Sir, - Who said Garda security was a joke? It's more! It's positively hilarious! One glance at the splendid picture on the front page of today's Irish Times (September 25th) will confirm this. The garda is clearly enjoying the joke as much as the rampaging farmers.
Some of these "beefy" farmers' must now surely come up for serious consideration by the Irish rugby selectors, as they breakthrough on the blindside, in classic style, and hopelessly outflank the lone but courageous and sporting garda in a concerted burst for the EU Ministers' try line, in Killarney.
