Exact Fares On Dublin Bus

Sir - "Changing with the city" is a catchy slogan for Dublin Bus. An experience I had on a bus recently showed me the real truth in it.

Not having the exact amount for my fare, I was handed a ticket with 30p change written on it. This I found acceptable, as the mistake was mine. However, when I attempted to hand this to another driver as part of a fare I got the retort: "Ya can't use dat." I enquired what use this slip of paper was to me. I was informed that I could get my refund at head office in O'Connell Street (this would have required taking another bus). I decided against this, as I'd say most people do, and let Dublin Bus keep my 30p.

So yes, Dublin Bus is "changing with the city". It's following the trend of the city's banks and businesses in trying to extract every last penny from the paying customer. - Yours, etc.,
