Sir, - My attention has been drawn to Theresa Judge's reference to the EU Peace and Reconciliation Programme (From the North West, February 5th).
For the information of your readers, the EU Peace Programme is currently financing over 11,000 projects from a total of over £300 million provided in its first three years. Many more projects are currently in the pipeline, financed by the over £200 million added to the programme for 1998 and 1999.
Middle-class? Hardly! Your readers would see the work being done across sectarian divides as tackling head-on the toughest of problems.
In the north-west, the same applies. The EU Peace programme has been consistently acknowledged as providing a vital practical base for subsequent political work. Credit where credit is due. - Yours, etc.,
