Sir, - I refer to your article on the £73m investment in Iarnr6d Eireann (August 3rd). The map accompanying the article gives a misleading impression about the full extent of the rail passenger network.
In 1987, Iarnrod Eireann reopened Ennis Station for passenger traffic, initially operating twice a week. With a steady growth in demand for rail travel to and from Ennis, this has continually expanded to the present level of two services daily each way between Ennis and Dublin.
This growth has in no doubt been helped by the £16 saver day return fare from Ennis to Dublin. It is hoped that the number of services will increase over the coming years. - Yours, etc.,
