Sir, - Further to your report on Energy Awareness Week (June 25th), the idea of restricting private vehicles into our major cities on specific days is good, but alternative means of transport must be provided. One possible cost effective solution might involve the daily creation of a continuous bus lane using traffic cones where no bus lane exists. Buses, taxis and four occupant cars would thus be guaranteed a swifter journey on these days with severe penalties for illegal users. - Yours, etc.,
