Madam, – The phrase “rejected by the electorate” seems to be gaining currency in describing a former election candidate who then goes on to voice an opinion. This is at best muddled thinking, at worst a dirty slur designed to rob a citizen of their equal right to an opinion.
Elections result in victors who take seats: if it were the other case the collective noun would surely be the rejectorate. – Yours, etc,
