Sir, - In the context of recent Westminster talk about elections, perhaps it is opportune to ask why the SDLP does not contest some English seats, during British elections?
Given the present Tory/Labour bi partisan policy (largely, of indifference to the needs of nationalist Ireland), surely it would be helpful to make the resolution of Britain's "Irish" problems a direct issue in their next general election.
The introduction of SDLP candidates, for example, to constituencies having a high Irish/English electorate, might not only help secure a more forthright commitment from the major parties but, could also help inform the English electorate, of the crucial importance of the "peace process." - Yours, etc.,
