Madam, - I really am tired of publicans complaining about loss of profits and an overall drop in business since the smoking ban was introduced. I, like many of my friends, am a smoker, but the ban on smoking in pubs is not the reason I don't go out: the simple reason is the price of drink.
Profits may be down from this time last year, but I suspect last year saw record profits for many pubs. There is an old saying, "You'll never see a publican go hungry". - Yours, etc.,
