Sir, - The Educational Building Society recently closed most of its Dublin sub-offices in order to direct resources towards "electronic banking" (according to the standard letter of explanation).
Ironically, in July 2000, customers still cannot access details of their personal accounts via the EBS website or any ATM, nor can they issue written instructions to staff by e-mail. This surely makes the closures quite premature and forces customers from the suburbs into the city centre to stand in even longer queues in head office.
It seems the EBS has put the cart before the horse! - Yours, etc.,
M. O'Neill, Stoneybatter, Dublin 7.
