Sir, - For the information of Jack Murphy, my understanding of the origin of the expression referred to, is that it arose when an Eskimo unwisely took an oil heater with him in his boat or kayak, to give it its proper name.
The heater overturned, it set the kayak on fire and the Eskimo drowned.
The moral of the story gave rise to the expression: "You can't have your kayak and heat it." - Yours, etc.,
