Sir, - Can anybody explain the vast difference in the standard of maintenance of the two piers in Dun Laoghaire? While walking one, I find myself increasingly looking down at my feet to avoid hazards such as protruding rocks, muddy pools and holes. On the opposite one, it is possible to walk and admire the vistas simultaneously.
Perhaps, from the £20 million-plus currently being spent on the harbour, funding could be found to resurface the higher level of the West Pier. - Yours, etc.,
Arthur McGee, Seapoint Avenue, Monkstown, Co Dublin.
