Sir, - It is difficult to understand the large discrepancy between bus schedules and the actual arrival times of the vehicles at bus-stops.

Although CIE promises that numerous new vehicles will be provided "shortly", why should we have to wait for this miracle of supply when every day there are many, many vehicles parked in the centre of the city, convenient to the drivers' club? Surely these could be more strictly scheduled and crewed to fill the gaps. In fact, should the relief crews have to share the elements with their prospective passengers it might improve the "on time" performance considerably.

Train commuters, particularly on the "Arrow" line, complain about the quality of the coaches provided at peak times and the scarcity of trains. Would it be too much for the brains of CIE to extract some of the sets of coaches lying idle at Heuston Station and other locations for use during these times?
