Sir, Apropos your recent editorial on "Operation Freeflow", my experience is somewhat different from what you describe. I moved from Dublin to Cork 12 years ago. I visit Dublin a number of times each year, and never continue to be amazed by the ever increasing traffic gridlock.
I was in Dublin on December 18th-19th. On December 19th, I had to travel from the Montrose Hotel to Custom House Quay for 10.00am. My previous experience was that, at peak times, from the Montrose to the Burlington Hotel took 20/30 minutes. Colleagues advised that it could take up to 45 minutes to get from the Burlington to Custom House Quay.
I left the Montrose at 08.40 and reached Custom House Quay at 09.05 (25 minutes, against an anticipated 60). My overall experience of traffic over the two days was of significantly shorter journey times keep up this improvement! - Yours, etc,
