Sir, - That a Government Minister should announce relatively modest changes in the traffic control arrangements for Dublin speaks volumes for the debilitated state of our local government. Such matters would be dealt with by the city authorities in any comparable European city.
It is long past time for national government to remove itself from the day to day operations of local government, not only in the interest of better government by both, but also for the good of local democracy. Yours, etc.,
