Sir, - Firstly, let me express my horror at the dreadful attack on the Richardson family. All decent Dublin people and all taxi and hackney drivers will be wishing and praying for Mr Richardsons' full recovery.
Secondly, I must register my disgust at Kevin Myers's attempt (An Irishman's Diary, June 14) to use this horrendous attack to expound his prejudice against Dublin taxi drivers, many of whom have themselves been targets of violent attack. Inviting his readers to "pause for belly-laugh" at any group of people is objectionable. Placing his horrible "belly-laugh" invitation in the middle of an article addressing such serious matters was insensitive and deplorable. - Yours, etc.,
Eamonn Murdock, Milltown Grove, Churchtown, Dublin 14.
