Sir, - Robin D. Heather (September 22nd) complains of the problems of staying within the legal speed limit due to being pressured by other traffic.
The position is quite clear. As a member of two institutes of advanced motorists I drive at all times according to rule, as all members are required to do. The only problem I experience at times is being tailgated by drivers behind who are obviously lawless. The official advice from both institutes is to stick within the legal limit and let others pass out when they wish, and if they take a risk in so doing, that is their problem. Let the overtaking driver speed on to his/her doom; there is no valid reason for law-abiding drivers to do the same. - Yours, etc.,
