Sir, - When the Dun Laoghaire/Rathdown Council decided on a halting site on the Lower Dodder Road did they consider whether the living conditions would be suitable and safe for the travellers and their children?
The main road from Rathfarnham to Dundrum on which there is very heavy traffic runs on one side of this narrow site. On the other side there is another busy road plus the river. The Dodder flooded badly with recent heavy rain, with serious consequences for this area.
Adjoining the site there is a large ESB transformer. The area around this building is regarded as dangerous according to the signs.
I would be interested to learn if any of the Council members inspected the site before reaching their decision and also what way they voted on the proposal. - Yours, etc., Kathleen Fox,
Rathgar, Dublin 6.
