Sir, – In the Dáil, the Tánaiste highlighted the high level of property tax in the North (and therefore UK) as part justification for the proposed new property tax in the South (Home News, November 30th). He wasn’t going to be lectured by the opposition on this matter!
Could I suggest that he continues his observations to include some other glaring differences between North and South. For example, the significantly lower level of pay, allowances and pensions, for state employees in the North, together with the lower unemployment and other state-related payments, etc. Then he may begin to understand why this country is not only bankrupt but grossly unequal. – Yours, etc,
