Sir, - On the evening of Wednesday, November 22nd we had the misfortune to perforce return to the UK, and thus became embroiled in the deliberate disruption caused by the blockade of the access roads to Dublin Airport by taxi drivers, resulting in us being turned off the Airport Link coach and left to walk a good half-mile or more to the terminal buildings despite having been charged the full fare of £7.

So much for the assurances by gardai that they would not permit the taxi drivers to prevent unrestricted access to the airport.

Whatever the rights or wrongs of the taxi drivers' case - which we gather is based primarily on their desire to retain the monopoly they currently hold - it cannot be right that they can with impunity put at risk the health and safety of at least two elderly persons with severe breathing difficulties and heart disease who were forced to struggle with their heavy luggage and without the help of a trolley. - Yours, etc.,

G. and J. Hampshire Thomas, West Road, Kirkland, Cumbria.
