Madam, - The prevailing moral-intellectual culture in Ireland seems to give tacit acceptance to unsupported slander of opponents of the Lisbon Treaty.
It appears to be a legitimate practice to refer to these unidentified opponents of the Lisbon Treaty as "Loo laas". This is what passes for debate coming from the highest serving politician in the country.
What is at stake here is not trivial. This is one of the most important moments in Irish political history. In my view, we are being asked to approve a new constitution which will greatly dilute our own Bunreacht na hÉireann. If the Irish people have a doubt about this new constitution, they must vote No. - Yours, etc,
JAMES A CASEY, Ballydarrig, Cahirciveen, Co Kerry.
