Sir, - The all-party Oireachtas Committee on the Constitution has concluded public hearings on the abortion issue without hearing the case for leaving things as they legally are. That is so despite the fact that at least 30 per cent of our electorate favour that option, and that an offer was made to the committee to make the case and deal with related points they might make.
This exclusion - of which, but for our newspapers, your readers would be unaware, since RTE has never facilitated discussion of that case - says much about the impartiality of a committee which sat at public expense. - Yours, etc.
